Customs, Duties, and Taxes

The customs office of the destination country or region may impose custom fees, import duties, sales taxes, and other charges to an international order.

When an order arrives at a destination country it has to get customs clearance. This clearance is the responsibility of the purchaser of the diamond (the importer of record) and there may be additional charges before your diamond clears customs. Either the carrier or the customs office will contact you directly to arrange any payment that is required before your diamond can clear customs to be delivered.

Here are some estimates of possible costs that may be levied:

  1. In USA local state and county sales taxes may be applied.
  2. In Australia sales tax is 10% and there is a formal entry fee up to A$200.
  3. In Canada sales tax and possible import duties could add up to 15% to the purchase price.
  4. In the UK VAT may be charged at 20%.
  5. In Hong Kong estimated duty and sales tax are 0%.
  6. In Japan estimated Duty is up to 5.3% and sales tax at 7%.

Shipments may be opened and inspected by customs. Information about your order may have to be communicated to our shippers and the customs officials as part of the clearance mechanism.
